How to Build a doTERRA Business Online

So you want to build a doTERRA business online.

You've jumped on the essential oils train - an AMAZING train to be on!  I *heart* essential oils.  And now you need to know how to build a doTERRA business online.

Because prospecting the "old school" way is kind of ridiculous.

Believe me.  I've tried talking to my family and my friends about my business.  I've tried prospecting strangers in coffee shops.  (Boy, was that scary!)  I've tried calling everyone I know and trying to get them to attend a product demo, or host a party, or listen to a business presentation.

And I bet you have too.

And don't get me wrong.... Some people make good money and see a lot of success with this "talk to everyone you know and everyone you meet about your business" strategy.

But the truth is that most of us totally fail at it.

But don't worry.  It's not you.  It's the method that's faulty.

When you start prospecting for your doTERRA business the "old school" way, you're trying to convince people of something.

And you're trying to convince people who might not care about all natural home remedies or essential oils for colds & flu, etc., etc. to start caring.

But that, my friend, is a mighty task.

You know what's much, MUCH easier?

Talking to people who are ALREADY interested in health and wellness, all natural products, and essential oils.  Find people that you don't have to convince.

Then your job is just warming up your prospects.  They're already you're ideal prospects.  They already are interested in what you are doing and what you have to offer.  

They just have to come to like, know, and trust you.

And then BOOM! New customers, new team members.  No more cold calling or home parties or chasing down prospects who weren't really that interested in the first place.

So let's talk about how to do that.

How to Build a doTERRA Business Online Step#1: Brand YOU​

The first thing you want to do is to brand yourself as an authority in your niche market.  You are not your company.

Branding yourself as a trusted authority, an essential oils expert, or a natural health and wellness coach....really anything you want!....will add rocket fuel to your business for a few reasons.

First, it increases your perceived value.

By positioning yourself as someone who has a lot to offer, as a trusted authority, you will stand out from the crowd of "me too" marketers"

​Remember: people don't do business with companies.  They do business with people.

​Second, branding YOU insulates you from anything that happens in your company.

Network marketing companies go out of business all the time.

You don't want your entire financial future to be dependent on someone else.  You want YOU to be the determining factor in your financial success.

And if you can focus on branding yourself as an authority in your niche market, and building a list of loyal social media followers and email subscribers, then you are totally immune to any controversy or mishaps that may happen in your company.

Be the kind of leader that you would follow.

Why is that?

Any network marketing business meets a certain need, whether it's health and wellness, beauty, safer cleaning products, etc., etc.​

People will always be looking for whatever it is that you are selling.  So if you can position yourself as a trusted expert, then you can recommend other, congruent products to your list, and you are not dependent on one single company.​

Third, this also allows you to add multiple streams of income to your business.

If you are ONLY selling your network marketing company's products, then you are leaving money on the table.

The fact is that 90% of people will say "no" to your business.​

Imagine being able to make money from those people who say "no" to your business....

...people who are interested in network marketing, for instance, but who already have a company they're committed to.

How to Build a doTERRA Business Online Step#2: Find Out Who Your Target Market Is & Where They Hang Out

You need to be hanging out where your target market hangs out.  You can do this offline AND online.  Since I'm teaching you about how to build a doTERRA business online, we're going to stick with online strategies for now.

The first thing you should be doing is joining Facebook groups devoted to health and wellness, natural healing, and maybe even essential-oil specific groups.  But the broader natural health and wellness category will serve you quite well.

You also want to find forums where your target market hangs out.

Are you targeting moms of young children who want to use more natural products?  Join mom groups and forums online and interact there.

Find natural wellness forums and start sharing your story and sharing valuable information.

The key: don't lead with your wallet.

Don't lead with your business pitch.  Lead with VALUE.  We'll talk about this next.​

How to Build a doTERRA Business Online Step#3: Add VALUE

This is one of the most important steps in building a successful doTERRA business online.

You need to be adding VALUE.

What does that mean?

That means that you share DIY essential oil recipes on Facebook, talk about oregano oil for battling colds and sore throat, talk about tea tree oil as a skin care solution, etc., etc.

You can do this by sharing other people's content (share articles you find on wellness sites), your own blog posts, other people's videos and your own videos.

When you share information that can genuinely improve the lives of your audience - information that is educational, entertaining, or inspiring - then it makes you stand out in their minds.

They will come to see you as a trusted expert, and then when they ARE ready to buy a product or join a business, you will be there, front and center.​

Trust me.

This strategy works MUCH better than just posting product promotions and business pitches on social media, because it warms up your market.​

You're not trying to convince strangers to hand over their money.  You're offering something of value, building relationships, and then customers and team members will naturally flock to you over time.

How to Build a doTERRA Business Online Step#4: Collect Emails & Warm Up Your List

One of the reasons that over 90% of network marketers fail with traditional cold prospecting is that cold prospecting offers no opportunity to warm up your prospects.

They're either in or they're out, and they don't even know you.

Would YOU trust someone you just met with your financial future?  ....Neither would I.

The fact is that is takes a person on average 5-7 exposures to a product or an opportunity before they are ready to buy or join.

That's what your email marketing campaign is for.

When you collect email addresses and send out messages that ADD VALUE, then you warm up your audience.  You get them to love you more.

And when you sprinkle your emails with the occasional promotion, that's when you can start making money from your email list.

How to Build a doTERRA Business Online Step #5: Earn $$$

Once you've found where your target market is hanging out and you're offering them things that they love, and once you've gotten them on your email list, then you can start earning money.

In fact, if you set this up right, you can literally earn money while you sleep.  Or while you play with your kids at the park.  Or while you make a mid-week trip to the beach, just because you wanted some sun and sand.

When you can position yourself as a trusted expert, add value to the conversation that people are already having, and get your offer out in front of the RIGHT eyeballs, then it's just a matter of scaling up.
