Creating Your Digital "Warm List" | Day 6

Creating Your List Part 3: Traffic

Time to turn on the traffic.

Once you have your offer in place and some emails (or blog posts that you can send out in your emails) drafted, you are ready to start sending traffic to your site.

The easiest way to do this is though social media. And Facebook is one of the BEST platforms for growing a following for your business.

3 Steps to Driving Traffic from Social Media:

  1. Grow a following.
  2. Engage your following.
  3. Promote your offer.

First you need to grow your following. You can do that by running a "likes" campaign, inviting friends and family to like your business page, and interacting on social media as your business page.

Super ninja social media hack: When you like other pages, you can select the "more" button and "like as your page".  This allows you to interact as your business page. If you contribute value to conversations, then people will click on your name or image and be taken to your business page.

You can also like, comment, or share posts as your page by selecting the arrow on the bottom right of any post you want to engage with and select your business page instead of your personal profile.

Once you have a following, you need to ENGAGE that following.

It is crucial here that you don't lead with your wallet. Solve problems FIRST. Promote your offer SECOND. Share inspirational stories, blog posts that are related to your topic (yours and others), videos, etc., etc.

Once you have an engaged following, then you can start promoting your offer.

You need your audience to like, know, and trust you before they will buy from you.

Once they see you as a trusted authority, then they will be much more likely to buy whatever it is that you recommend.

How Do You Engage Your Audience?

Remember the "Umbrella Approach" that I taught for content creation?  That is one of the best ways to engage your audience.

Come up with a handful of "big topics" that relate to your products or service and create blog posts, emails, or videos that each solve one small problem within each of those big topics.

Make sure you have a call to action ("Click this link to get ____".  "Get your exclusive discount on _____ here". etc., etc.) that hooks back to your offer in each piece of content.

On social media you should also be sharing other people's content (blog posts and articles related to your topic), inspirational images, stories and tips from your own life, and just generally being social.

The more you can help your audience solve problems that are related to your topic, and the more you can show that you know what you're talking about, the more they will come to see you as a trusted authority and want to buy your products or join your team.

How Do You Drive Traffic To Your Business "Hub"?

You can drive traffic (Remember: traffic = people.) to your Facebook fan page with a "likes campaign".  This can cost as little as $1 a day and can get you a large following of your EXACT target audience.

You can also grow your social media following by interacting on Facebook as your page, by sending people to your fan page, and by inviting people to like your fan page.

If you want to start a blog, you can write blog posts and share them on social media.  Post them on your business page.  Post them in Facebook groups related to your topic.  Engage in discussion on social media and when it's relevant, you can say, "Hey! I wrote an article about that topic a while back", and share the link.

Engage in forums related to your topic.  Solve problems.  Offer your newsletter.  Send people to relevant blog posts.

Beginner's blogging tip: If you want to start a blog, Weebly offers a SUPER simple drag and drop platform that is amazing for beginners who know NOTHING about tech.  Once you are comfortable blogging, you should 100% switch to a self-hosted WordPress blog (warning: techy blog speak) but to get your feet wet, Weebly is super easy and the "base model" is free to use.

How Does This Make You Money?

Using this method of prospecting and generating leads online makes money by getting you a massive audience of your EXACT target audience and keeping them engaged.

Let's face it: not everyone you speak to will be ready or willing to buy from you right away.  As I mentioned earlier, it typically takes about 5-7 exposures to a product or a company before someone will make a buying decision.

By getting the right people on your email list and following you on social media, and offering them valuable content that is not JUST sales pitches, you are able to build a relationship with them.

Then, once the time is right for them to buy or to join your team, you'll be right there.

And as you grow your list and get a bigger and bigger audience, the time will be right for someone more and more often.

This is how network marketing rock stars are able to pull in leads online EVERY single day: with a big enough list, and consistent follow up, every day the time will be right for someone to buy or to join.

This is also the importance of time leverage and automation.  You don't have to constantly call your prospects and bug them to host parties, buy a product, try a sample, etc., etc.  Your emails and your social media content will follow up with your prospects FOR you.
